How to join NLCC Admiral Stirling

Are you between 9 and 12 years old? Do you like making friends? Care to go sailing, boating, and swimming? Would you like to go scuba diving or rock climbing, and learn cool stuff about ships and submarines? Interested in camps, outings, and trips?  YES? THEN NAVY LEAGUE CADETS IS FOR YOU!

With NLCC Admiral Stirling, you’ll get a chance to do all the above and many more activities! Check out our activities gallery for fun stuff we’ve done in the past and what’s coming up this year. Youth aged 9-12 years old can join NLCC Admiral Stirling cadets anytime during our training year (September to June). Click here for more information on registration. We parade (meet) every Thursday evening between 1830 hrs (6:30PM) and 2100 hrs (9:00PM). Come and visit us! This is a perfect opportunity for you to see what Navy League Cadets is all about and ask questions. Feel free to drop by any Thursday evening!

Cost

There is a $100 Activity Fee to cover outings.

NLCC Admiral Stirling is generously sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 288. You don’t have to be a Veteran to join the Legion. Membership to the West Kelowna Branch is $50.00 per person per year (to a family maximum $100.00 per year).

2016 Open House

Visit us for our Annual Ceremonial Review May 28 at Brigadier Angle Armoury – 720 Lawrence Avenue
This is the most important event of the NLCC Cadet training year. This is an opportunity for the cadets to display what they have learned over the past training year to their families and assembled guests. It is also the opportunity for the Corps to honour deserving cadets by presenting them with various awards.

2016 Registration

Registration for NLCC Admiral Stirling for the 2016 – 2017 training year for returning and new cadets:

FIRST NIGHT: THURSDAY EVENING 8 SEPTEMBER 2016 From 1830 hrs to 2100 hrs (6:30PM to 9:00PM) At the corps’ Ship’s Office at Brigadier Angle Armoury – 720 Lawrence Avenue. Please note: Cadets must be present to sign forms, and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will also be required to sign registration forms and receive information. Due to this being a registration night only, cadets are not to be in uniform and are to leave with their parents or guardians once the registration documents are completed.

SECOND NIGHT: 15 SEPTEMBER 2016 From 1830 hrs to 2100 hrs (6:30PM to 9:00PM) At the corps’ Ship’s Office at Brigadier Angle Armoury – 720 Lawrence Avenue. This will also be a sports night. Cadets who have already been registered are encouraged to attend dressed in attire suitable for sports activities. Please note NO UNIFORMS this night.

PRIOR TO REGISTRATION Please bring your child and come visit us to see the cadets on parade. The officers are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the program. If you decide to register your child, please download and fill out the registration form (all forms are also found on our Forms & Publications page). This will save time during registration.

AT REGISTRATION Please bring the following for each child registering:

  • BC Healthcare Number
  • Medical information (medications, allergies, etc.)
  • Birth certificate to confirm proof of identity and age
  • Parent or guardian proof of identity (may be driver’s license or other government issued identification)

Please note: Cadets must be present to sign forms, and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will also be required to sign registration forms and receive information. Due to this being a registration night only, cadets are not to be in uniform and are to leave with their parents or guardians once the registration documents are completed. All information collected on the registration documents is only for the purpose of enrolling a cadet in the navy league program and is protected under applicable privacy legislation.

Please note some changes to the Navy League of Canada Regulations effective September 2015:

  • The Navy League Cadet Program is for youth from the age of 9 years old to 12 years old.
  • To register for the current training year cadets who are 12 years old on 01 September 2015 can join a Sea, Army or Air Cadet program but not the Navy League Cadet Program. Cadets who turn 12 after 01 September can be Navy League Cadets.
  • Navy League regulations do not allow for a Navy League Cadet to be a member of the Sea, Army or Air Cadets while they are a Navy League Cadet. They can belong to one or the other organization but not both.

 

Fundraising & Volunteering Commitments

Fundraising is absolutely essential to offer our cadets an exciting and effective program. Parents/guardians are expected to participate in fundraising efforts to assist in providing the funds to support an enriched and diversified program for the cadets.
